We actively seek public and private partners who value the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities and share our goals, including nonprofits, government agencies and foundations, so that we increase the likelihood that we will succeed.
Initiative 1: Collaborative Pilot Project Aims to Increase the Number of Hispanic Doctoral Students
Fewer than 6% of doctoral graduates are Hispanic. We advocate for the establishment of a pilot project through the Department of Education to develop and test new models of collaboration and support in order to increase the number of Hispanic doctoral students.
Initiative 2: Alliance and NSF Collaborative Project to Engage “Missing Millions”
The National Science Foundation recognizes that the underrepresentation of Hispanics in STEM disciplines must be addressed. The Alliance is working with the National Science Foundation to identify ways we can engage and educate the “missing millions.”
